POLITICAL BEGINNING for the SOUL

Whatever title or office we may be entitled to have, it is the legacy of our political work that defines who we are and what we achieved during our tenure in politics.

For approximately 20 years  the Hon. D. Neletha Butterfield, a mother, an author, an educator, a former senator, former politician and cabinet minister, embarked on her political journey of serving her community in various roles. Her success is to be measured not so much by the position and titles she achieved but through the obstacles which she has overcome.

It has been said that a woman’s place is in the Senate and the House. Political Beginnings for the Soul informs us of her political journey through a collection of highlights from writings, speeches, interviews and international conferences that she attended over two decades serving her country Bermuda in both the political party and the legislature. It will not only inspire others but help us understand each other better. Within our souls, we can overcome the economic and political barriers.  Price: $30.00

“We all have a duty to our party, to our country and to ourselves to fulfil the dreams of the founders of this great Party.” -The late Hon. L. Fredrick Wade, J.P.

THE SOUL of a COMMUNITY LEADER

Leadership is not about titles, it is not about status, it is about making others better and those around you do better and become more.  You have to have the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to the needs of the people in your community. Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life and it is my belief that the person who serves as well as the person who receives assistance empowers themselves through personal growth and development.

As a community leader, educator, senator, politician and cabinet minister this book The Soul of a Community Leader highlights the Hon. D. Neletha Butterfield’s historical journey as a cabinet minister for over 9 years of service to the Bermuda Government from 2002-2011. Her first cabinet appointment Minister without Portfolio in 2002 was followed by six other cabinet appointments: Minister of the Environment, Minister of Education and Development, Minister of Environment, Telecommunications and E-Commerce, Minister of Culture and Social Rehabilitation, Minister of Public Information Services and Minister of Government Estates and Information Services. Price$30.00
